ABOUT THE MOVIE. It is summer of 2007.  In a few months, Slovakia will join Schengen States, hence much efforts are put into strengthening of the Ukrainian-Slovak border. Life in this region was never easy, but difficult times are coming for Adam, the father, the husband, the son, and the head of the criminal smuggling group operating at the border. His most trusted business partner betrays him,the new product – drugs – appears at the border.  After an unsuccessful smuggling deal, the debt to the dangerous criminal lord is growing every day. Eventually, the maintained balance of power at the border is changing, and the players find themselves in the midst of strange and terrible events that will change their lives forever.

AWARDS AND PRIZES:

2016. The first prize in the international section of the Work in Progress competition at Baltic Event XX at Tallinn Black Nights Festival.

2017. Best director award at 52rd Karlovy Vary IFF, "Silver Plaque" Best Art Direction at Chicago IFF and Gran Prix "Atlas d'or" award at Arras FF.

"The Line" was nominated for Oscar from Slovakia. In 2018 it won awards in 6 nominations of the Slovak cinema award "The Sun in the Net": the award for the best film of the year, for the best work of the director (Peter Bebjak), for the best actor (Tomas Mastalir), for editing, sound and music.

PREMIERE. The world premiere of the film took place on July 3, 2017 at the 52nd Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (main competition program). The film received the greatest box-office in the history of Slovak cinema (the film was released in Slovakia on July 27, 2017) and grossed 2.1 million euros worldwide.

The premiere in Ukraine was held as a part of the special event during/within the Kyiv International Film Festival "Molodist" – "Molodist. Prologue – 47".

The film was released in Ukraine on November 16, 2017.
