«A black room with white walls»

ABOUT PROJECT

Alex wakes up in a room with black walls at the police department. Two policemen accuse him of killing his girlfriend, but Alex has no recollection of doing so. He tries to prove his innocence to them, but the evidence is against him. One of the policemen uses rather extreme interrogation techniques against him, but to little effect. Then the second policeman starts hitting Alex until he faints and collapses face down on the table.

In the next scene Alex faces a female investigator in the same room. She shows him a video, and Alex sees he was alone in the room all that time. Investigator asks Alex questions regarding the murder case. Alex tells her stories from his past, and through them she learns more and more about Alex and the girl he killed.

It turns out that main character had a head trauma. Alex starts seeing figures of people closest to him. His friend Mark is dead, and his uncle Dan left him when Alex was a child. As a result of this Alex loses his mind, and his uncle and friend become his unceasing companions. He learns to live with their presence. In the climactic scene a murder of Alex’s girlfriend is shown and Alex gets blamed for it. Alex fights himself, confronts his own consciousness, and because of them is incapable of understanding why he did it.

Female investigator turns out to be a projection of Alex’s mother, and the interrogation room is his own subconsciousness where he trapped himself to unearth the truth. Policemen who interrogated him at the beginning are his uncle Dan and his friend Mark who accompany him after the trauma.

A Black Room with White Walls is a game of mind on the verge of insanity, acceptance of new rules of the very human essence. Combination of reality and alternate reality keeps tension until the final shot where Alex realizes this was all a fantasy. Or was it?
